Wayne Kelly Memorial Top Dog Parade — March 17, 12:00pm
The shining jewel of St. Patrick’s Day, the Wayne Kelly Memorial Top Dog Parade is a quintessential small town experience. Kilts, bagpipes and pups clad in green all march through downtown and have been doing so for nearly 40 years.
Originally, the St. Patrick’s Day parade was small–just a handful of Lake Chelan Community Hospital staff members and their children and pets marching down Woodin avenue dressed in potato sacks. As the years went on, the tradition grew and grew.
In the 90’s, the parade was renamed in lasting tribute to Wayne Kelly, hardware store owner, community pillar, dog lover, and all around good guy. Today the Wayne Kelly Memorial Top Dog Parade is an event worth visiting our beautiful valley for. You can watch, march or enter your pooch in the best-dressed contest.
The Taste of the Irish — March 17, 1pm-4pm
Downtown Chelan will be your passport to Ireland as your taste buds explore some of Chelan’s favorite Irish dishes and libations. This is the first year of the Ale & Whiskey tasting event in downtown Chelan. Taste local whiskeys at Campbell’s while you listen to live music or visit downtown shops and taste a variety of local ales while you shop.
Tickets are available online now!
Late night fun.
St. Patrick’s day doesn’t have to end once the sun goes down. You can have your pick of bands and DJs throughout downtown and dance the night away.
For a springtime weekend adventure, visiting Lake Chelan for St. Patrick’s Day will never disappoint. Come fall in love with spring and get to know the community of characters that make our valley so very worth visiting.
