MS Special Education Teacher for grades 6-8

Job Description:
Chelan Middle / High School will have an opening for a Special Education Teacher position starting the 2025-2026 school year serving students in grades 6-8:
Professional Qualifications and Essential Skills:
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree with K-12 Special Education endorsement.
• Highly effective status based on credential or state qualifying program.
• Understanding of instructional strategies and assessments practices.
• Working knowledge of WA-AIM Access Point Framework and Common Core Essential Standards.
• Experienced teacher working with special education children; ability to work well with a team of adults, develop lesson plans for students, supervise adult support to follow-through with plans and work with other teaching staff to meet the needs of students.
• Experience with writing and following the IEP as well as supporting general education staff to design and implement differentiated programming as appropriate.
• Must be able to work as part of a team and supervise placement of special education classified staff that support the program. Knowledge of Special Education rules (state and federal).
• Experience with effective behavioral strategies and supports for students.
• Must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written, positive attitude and love for working with students with differing ability levels.
• Proven ability for organization and meeting timelines. Must work well with students with a variety of adaptive needs. (feeding, toileting, diapering, restraining, lifting, and handling disabled students)
• May require prolonged sitting or standing. Attendance and punctuality are important functions for this position.
• Effective organizational and time management skills.
• Familiar with instructional best practices.
• Experience working with multi-age groupings.
